How to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
We were created to have a personal, eternal relationship with God. At this point in your life, you have probably discovered that something went wrong. Well, we have some good news and some bad news.
Bad News: We have all sinned (Romans 3:23) and our sin prevents us from having a right relationship with God and his Son Jesus Christ. Our sin keeps us from being the people we were created to be and from having eternal life.
Good News: Jesus paid the price for our sins by his sacrificial death on the cross. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)
Jesus Christ wants to have a personal relationship with you, forgive your sins, and give you the gift of eternal life. This is a free gift, but we need to receive it. We do this by confessing our sin to Jesus, asking him to forgive us, and inviting him to come into our life and take control.
If you would like to be forgiven of your sins and have a personal relationship with Jesus, pray this prayer from your heart: "Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and that I need you to forgive me. I know that you died on the cross for me so that my sins could be forgiven. Thank you. I want to make you the Lord of my life, and I will trust and follow you. Please forgive me of my sins, come into my life, and make me a new creation in you. Everything I have is now yours. In your name, Lord Jesus. Amen."
If you prayed this prayer, congratulations and welcome to the family of God. Please let us know of your decision to follow Jesus so we can rejoice with you and that we might be of assistance as you take your next steps in your walk with Jesus.
